Tributes

My family and I knew Graeme for just under a year. Despite such a short period, Graeme left a lasting impression on us. We will always treasure the memories we have of him. He taught us the value of a good neighbor by his caring attitide and helpful nature. We will miss him, especially the soccer banter. Sending love and light to his family and all those whose lives were touched by his presence.

VALE | Graeme McRae 22.4.72 ~ 11.07.23 It is with great sadness that we have learned of the sudden passing of Graeme McRae aged 51 years old. Graeme was one of the unsung heroes of the Auckland football community contributing plenty to the grassroots of our game across many years. He was a big contributor to Maori Football Aotearoa and in recent years was also the assistant coach of Central United’s senior women’s team in 2021 & 2022. Graeme was a great guy to have around the club. Always happy, always obliging and never afraid to get stuck in and lend a hand. The girls he coached had a lot of respect for him both as a coach and a person. He was always there to listen and support his players. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Graeme’s whanau and especially his young son Boston. He was a top man and he will be missed by us all. The President & Members Central United Football Club

Having known Graeme from babyhood, it was a privilege to be his godmother, and watch him develop through his school years to become a confident young man. From the time of being a proud father to Boston through to Graeme becoming a very respected soccer coach was very impressive, and we are sure his achievements will long be remembered. We are saddened to hear of his passing, and we hope he is at peace in a better place.
