We were very sad to hear that Rex had passed away on the 25th July 2023. Our fondest memories were lots of laughter on our catch ups, family meals and a lot of chatting over a beer or two. If I ever had a problem with my car you were certainly the go to man. We will remember you always. Our love and thoughts go to Diane and Bernie, Tracey and family. Dear Benge Family Please accept our heartfelt condolences on the passing of Rex. We remember him with great fondness and Betty too. They were always great company and very much part of our childhood and growing-up. Rex was a mechanic at Stevens Motors in Lower Hutt in the 1950s, where our father, Gordon Darnell, was the Service Manager. Rex and a group of "lads" from the garage drove a vintage Ford Model T truck to Auckland - I recall we gave them a memorable send-off from our house.
