Loving thoughts to you Marilyn and all your family. A relief perhaps for him in the end but know you both shared such happy memories in amongst it all.

I will always fondly remember uncles visits to Masterton as a sales rep for Yamaha motorcycles. He was always happily welcomed by Mum, Dad and our family when he arrived at our door step, a broad grin across his face and sporting a thick mustache that was the envy of me, a teenage boy growing into adulthood. It was nice to see and listen to Dad and uncle laugh and joke at the kitchen dining table, chatting about all things mechanical, motorcycles, cars or aircraft while sipping tea or something stronger. Uncle Tony was a kind man, would always ask me how I was going, sometimes offering me stickers or a Yamaha T shirt which I gleefully accepted. Not so long ago it was nice to hear from my daughter Savannah that uncle had contacted her via the genealogy thingy that he used to do and in her words, "your Uncles a really nice person Dad!" yes he is Bubbi, yes he is. My sympathys and thoughts are with you Aunty Marilyn, Rose, Collette, Harley and your extended families.

I have been remembering the times when Tony and I were both learning to fly way back in 1959 at the Aero Club in Masterton. Great times and adventures were had and we have been friends ever since. Although we have not seen one another frequently over the years we have kept in touch. Will miss all your lovely photos etc. Our love goes to Marilyn and your family. Thinking of you all, Harley & Juliette.

It was always fun when uncle Tony visited our family in Masterton when he was traveling for Hansells or when he visited with Aunty Marilyn and the children. Later as adults, Bill and I remember a weekend spent with them at their home in Kawa Kawa. We especially enjoyed the conversations late into the evening over a glass of wine. I will miss our chats on messenger, swapping news and learning about our family tree. He will forever be in our hearts. Thinking of you Aunty Marilyn, Rose, Collette, Harley and families.

My memories of Uncle Tony only begin in the 70's when I was a child. I remember visits by Uncle Tony, Aunty Marilyn and my cousins Rose, Collette and Harley during Christmas. They were the happiest of days when everyone would gather at our house in Rugby St, Masterton. The kitchen table would be extended and set down the middle of the dining room and lounge. It would be covered with a feast and our parents would break out their cocktails - a popular choice at the time was the Harvey Wallbanger made with real Raro juice from the can. The kids would have soft drinks and play (and sometimes argue - LOL). Bright happy, summer days, with Uncle Tony telling stories and jokes. These are treasured memories. And more uniquely of Uncle Tony are my memories of him visiting our house during his sales travel. He would bring a bottle of red wine and sit at the kitchen table telling jokes and stories while mum happily cooked for him and our family. He would always acknowledge the children and it made me feel recognised. Mum and Dad were so happy to see him and it brought a lot of joy to our house. I'm also grateful of the kindness he has shown to my son Marino who has a common interest in flying and photography. I also appreciate Uncle's tireless efforts putting together our family tree, finding long lost relatives and tracing genealogy as far back as the 1600's! This will be a resource for our family forever. Uncle Tony was a decent, fun, humorous, and kind man. He will be deeply missed. Much love and hugs to Aunty Marilyn, Rose, Craig, Collette, Darren, Harley and his wife and all the grandchildren.

My abiding memory of Tony will be his lovely smiling face, whether it was 33 years ago when we first met in The Bay of Islands and munched on buckets full of green lipped mussels, or our most recent chats on Skype, when despite all his health challenges, he still kept on smiling. Although many miles have separated us, our visits, and more recently our video chats, have kept us close. Sending sympathy and love to you Marilyn, and all the family. Helen x

Dear Uncle Tony, I will always have many fond memories of the times spent together with you and Marilyn in New Zealand: the Bay of Islands, Napier, and touring the Hawkes Bay vineyards in your Jag, and more recently in Hamilton. I am comforted that you are now at peace and reunited with your four siblings Roger, Lionel, Paul and Philip: the Evans band of brothers is back together. I'm sure the story telling, lasting long, long into the night, has already begun... You have been a wonderful uncle and I'm going to miss you, but I'll never forget all the happy times we spent together, and our long video chats. Marilyn, Rose, Collette and Harley, my love goes out to you all. I will always be here for you. I send you strength that you may cope with the loss of your dear Tony. Rest In Peace Tony. Martin

I have so many great memories of my Uncle Tony - he was not just a true gentleman, but also one of the kindest people I’ve ever known. He was a staunch advocate and marvellous friend to my Dad ( his younger brother, Philip ) I remember many, many happy days in Masterton, hanging out with my cousins at Rose & Pete’s farm in the holidays, where Dad, Uncle Tony & Uncle Rog were often found around the barbecue … a staple diet of meat & slightly burnt sausages would materialise, which never bothered us kids in the slightest. I remember a lot of laughter during those times, and a shared sense of camaraderie. Uncle Tony shared a love of all things camera related, which meant a lot of likes on the latest photo he’d post on Facebook, and much discussion around the use of Canon vs Nikon lenses ( Canon won, always! ) All my love goes out to my cousins Collette, Rose & Harley, he was a wonderful human being and I understand what a huge loss this is for you all 💔 You were such a wonderful source of support when my own Dad passed away many years ago. Moe mai rā Uncle 🕊️🤍

Our history with Tony goes back to about 1960 and it has been a pleasure to have been able to stay in touch over all the years. My memories and shared adventures in both yachting, holidays and even sharing a house in Browns Bay in Auckland with Tony and Marilyn in 1966 are all full of joy, laughs and quite a bit of mischief. Frank's Black Label Whiskey immediately comes to mind .... We have had the great pleasure over the last 15 or so years to re-live many of those times with both Tony and Marilyn and have always looked forward to and enjoyed our visits with them. Tony was someone we always respected and he in turn always respected and valued others who enjoyed his friendship. A true gentleman at all times. We could relate so many stories of our shared adventures but that would take a long time. So, we will close by saying ... knowing you Tony was our pleasure and thank you for enriching our lives in so many ways. You won't only be remembered but also sorely missed by so many of us. All love to Marilyn and all the family and RIP dear friend .... Ray Manning and Cheryl Baughen

Thank you Mt Evans for inviting me on family outings. The most memorable is when Colleen and I rode horses and you took care of me when I fell off and was so patient when Colleen directed us to a dead end street. 💖💖💖💫. I actually remember it fondly. Fly free beautiful spirit. Meet you on the other side 💖💫🌟

Marilyn- so sorry to hear of Tony’s passing. We knew he had poor health of late but this was still a shock. We have lovely memories of your time here in Napier (you with us at Eastbridge for many years Marilyn) Great memories of Tony’s humour. His stories, his passion of planes, & incredibly clever photography . We always loved those photos he sent of beautiful flowers mostly from your garden. Your visit to our lakehouse . Your interest always in our family as they grew up , and of Eastbridge. Tony was a kind and gentle man. He’ll be greatly missed . Sending sympathy and much love . Rest Well Tony ~ Bruce & Carol Mellsop 💔

Tony found me years ago in the internet while looking for late relatives gone from England to Brazil. We kept in contact for all these years and I hoped I could meet him sometime in New Zealand. He used to send me nice landscapes and flowers photos. He introduced me to his daughter, Rose, and we could meet in London and become good friends. I am really sorry I did not have the chance to meet him for I am sure he must have been a great fellow. My sincere feelings to all family members about his loss.

Tony was a lovely human being and had a very dry sense of humour which resonated with me. We shared a love of motorbikes and photography. We had some great chats and shared stories of travels and places we had been and wanted to go to. He will be greatly missed.

Hey Poppa, I miss and love you heaps, I know you’re with your brothers now, being your cheeky self. You’re at peace now, so you’re free to do you. I’m grateful for all the quality time I spent with you listening to your stories, and learning more about your life. You’ll be missed Poppa ❤️

Bikes, aero planes and the occasional beer(s) made up the topic's whenever we got together. Tony (and Marilyn) were the life of the party during those heady days during the 70's/80's, Motorcycles held us together and we shared lots of memories about aircraft. His passion and well as mine. He will be sadly missed but not forgotten, especially those wine and cheese evenings at the Auckland M/Cycle club.... I still can recall them nowadays. Croz

Dad, I love you more than you know and will do forever. Many memories with so much to give and teach others in your long life. I loved riding motorcycles and the look on your face when I almost crashed 3x when you let me go solo for the 1st time aged 5. Pukekohe and the races of formula one motorcycles and more, collecting bottles for money, our lush gardens at all of the places we lived no matter what you had you had amazing green fingers, Your ability to make others laugh and admire your many skills including your love of flying even though I hated it, it never stopped me when you took us for a fly. I still got into a Tiger Moth called SNAFU, and several Helicopters due to your ability to convince people to take us for a quick ride, your love of photography and favorites include insects and the silver fern I have in my house (the Koru), the amazing passion fruit vine in Glenfield, the fantastic pool on those warm summers in Auckland, your wonderful extended family who have all been very kind to me over these many years. Origami and playing monopoly and we could never beat you, cooking Sukiyaki and the king of the BBQ. Wherever we went you had an ability to join a club and make friends with many. Dropping skydivers when you achieved your commercial pilots licence and your fabulous ability to sell and teach others the same. I visited your birthplace again in Kings Langley recently and also Folkestone earlier in the year. One big memory was going to your military school in Dover and getting your school reports, you were delighted. The story teller in you will not be forgotten. Lots of love and hugs I'm flying home to help support Mum in her new journey now that you have your angel wings. ❤️💔❤️💔❤️💔❤️

Family, Ancestry, Cars, Planes, Photography, sailing we're passions that you pursued with vigour during your lifetime. Like all Evans brothers you loved a good yarn, you also loved a good joke. Even though you weren't able to return, your connection with England always sat closely to your heart, and I remember swapping stories about Red Gables in Kings Langley, and Dover. It makes me wonder if that was a precursor to pursuing the family tree. It's been a bloody rough ride recently and although sad you've left us, I'm glad your now at rest. I'll miss cracking a joke with you. Sending you my love as I know everyone else will be as well.
