To our beautiful Aunty Eileen, or Ei, as dad would have said. Aunty Eileen was truly one of a kind. She was a gentle and warm person, always radiating beauty from the inside out. She embraced Denise, Adrian, Ashley and Joanne into the family and continued that by spending so much quality time loving and supporting Ernie’s girls, her twins, Jemma and Simone through everything in life. She had an innate ability to always make you feel at home, warm and welcoming in every way, and visits to her and Uncle Mert’s house were never too much trouble. So many memories of love, joy and fun: 1. Aunty Eileen fondly retelling the story of pushing us, her twins, out of national Women’s Hospital when we were born 2. Walking Honey the Labrador in Epsom and 3 Kings park 3. Tuesday night Taco and apricot chicks. nights at Porrit ave, always with sweet treats after dinner 4. Holidays at Huia including swimming in the creek 5. Always taking the time to write beautiful birthday and Christmas cards 6. Passionately watching the All Blacks and Silver Ferns on the TV 7. Attendance at our communion, birthdays and graduations 8. Cuddling our babies and showing them the love she showed us 9. The support we received when we lost our dear Dad and beyond 10. Aunty Eileen and Uncle Mert helping clean our flat in Sydney to make sure we got our bond back! But mostly we remember how close Ernie, our dad, and Aunty Eileen were. Shared hardship and history from a very young age to becoming wonderful family people and upstanding citizens. Aunty Eileen always looked out for dad and checked in on him in the good and bad times. We are so grateful for the relationship they had and cherish the values they both instilled within us. Aunty Eileen, thank you for shaping the women we have become. We love you and appreciate you endlessly and are glad you can now rest peacefully in the love of Uncle Mert, Dad, and your other special siblings. Forever our beautiful Aunt.
