Tributes

Growing up with Bob as big brother. I have fond memories of Bob when I was a young kid, as he always had a lot of confidence and a joke along the way. A person that had a big heart and would give you the shirt of his back. He had a love for cars at a very early age, and when he got a Morrie 1000, with 4 on the floor he thought all his Christmas’s had come at once. He could valve bounds the engine in every gear. He thought this was good, but I’m afraid the engine didn’t think so. I guess that was one of the reasons he decided to become a mechanic. With his car and his bodgie dress code he could take on the world. He made a few mistakes on the way, but he always embraced every day, and enjoyed a drink and a smoke to celebrate it. I was very fortunate to spend a few days with my big brother Bob when I travelled to NZ for the Bledisloe Cup last year. It was good to catch up with him, have a few meals together, and drive with Bob down memory Lane. We looked at the farm where we were all brought up together, then to Mangakino where we visited Mum and Dads graves, the St John’s hall that our mother fund raised for and build, down to the lake where we would all go to watch the speed boats racing, and the marae, that our mother rested in before going to her final resting place. Then up to Tokoroa to see the house our father lived in before going to his final resting place with Mum. Out to Kinleith where Bob worked in the Pulp and Paper factory. Back to Bob’s Favourite place Rotorua where we finished the day of with a nice meal and a couple of cold beers. We are going to miss you big brother, but at lest you are at Peace with Mum and Dad. You will always be in our hearts and never forgotten. You little brother Micky (Bryan)
