Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
A family man, a fisherman, traveler and tomato grower. A big man with a big heart so dearly loved by his wife Sheryl. Cherished father and father in law of Angela and Gary, Aaron and Julianne. Loving grandad of Jayden, Keira, Benjamin, Zara, Imogen, Jackson and Kylan. Adored great grandad of Mackenzie, Emmerson and Awatea.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the medical staff at Kaitaia Hospital and Mamaru GP Clinic. The staff at the Kaitaia Hospice, and the team from St John Ambulance for all your love and care of Neill during his time.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Kaitaia Hospice will be much appreciated.
A celebration of Neill's life will be held at the Mangonui Cruising Club, 18 Silver Egg Road, on Monday 18th September 2023 at 11am.

This is something I've written for grandad A last fish too soon: Early morning wake ups No attitude in tow. To go for a fish with grandad, It's out of bed you go. Big fish are aplenty If you let him lead the way Then off to the mangonui pub Much to grans dismay For fish is not her favourite food But family time comes first. So off we go, no time to waste. Good feed and quenching thirst. To know there was a last time Is something we can't comprehend. When "nice to see you" "No its not" Has an untimely end. Our humor, love and laughter, a war of words not spared Though Not understood by others Is something we always shared. You never know when time is up For life is no cartoon But this I'll know forever Your last fish was too soon.
Neil was always warm, kind, friendly and welcoming to myself and my family whenever we were in the Far North. I am so sorry for your loss and send my sympathies and love to the Bainbridge family. X
I have always enjoyed Neills' company whenever I have spent time with him. I am thinking of you Sheryl and send my condolances.
I haven't known Neill very long but he was always happy to share his fishing stories and did a great job on the fish smoker. Taken too soon. RIP Neill.
I want to share these comforting words that were sent to me: "Think of him as living In the hearts of those he touched For nothing loved is ever lost And he was loved so much."
Rest easy my ocean loving brother -in-law on the everlasting sea. 🩵
