Tributes

Greg joined the New Zealand Service Rifle Assn when it started in 1996 and then Auckland SRA and remained a member. He was always there at competitions and practice days, and was one of our stars, winning medals at all the competitions he entered. I can personally remember shooting with him at Clevedon, Waiuku Pistol Club, Franklin Rifle Club, and the ASRA farm. This doesn’t include proper competitions like Nationals (at Trentham then Waiouru), Charles Upham (Wellington), BAM (Auckland), which he often entered. But what I really remember was what nice person he was. Apart from coming to as many shoots as possible, and so supporting the cause, he was always cheerful and, well, just warm. He never had a bad word (that I can remember) and improved the day by just being there (which was pretty often). So for me personally, and I am sure many of our members, while we saw less of him once he moved North, he was a presence – and will be missed. Our condolences to his family. Stuart Hayman ASRA
