Jodi Denise Tawhai

2 November 19792 November 2023

Born 2nd November 1979 Jodi was the daughter of Jack and Joy Tawhai. They believed that they must have been perfect parents, as Jodi was such an easy baby. They later realised that actually she was the perfect child. As long as she was fed she was happy and that continued throughout her life. She was the eldest of 4, a sister to Nikki, Terry and Anna.

Jodi was an incredibly passionate piano player, teaching her niece Elliot to play as beautifully as she did. She was just starting out in her teaching career and she had so much to look forward to, finding her niche teaching at primary and intermediate schools. She had also started her fitness journey only 15 months ago and changed her lifestyle completely, inspiring many who witnessed her journey to do the same.

As an Aunty she was very funny and caring, always trying to show off to her nieces and nephew’s. Like the time she tried to ride a hoverboard and things didn’t end well. Or like the time she said she could do double unders and her feet didn’t leave the ground.

She loved being a mum to Tamati and Ace, doing the best she could with what she had. But her greatest achievement and newfound love, was when she became a Nana to her twin grand-daughters Iman and Ivy. She was absolutely smitten and so proud to show them off to anyone and everyone.

You were taken too soon Jodi. You will be forever missed, and you will always live on in our hearts. We love you ❤️
