Passed away suddenly at his home in Wellington.
Born in Palmerston North to the late Les and Peg Jones.
Loved one of Helen Ormsby (deceased).
Beloved older brother to twins Bryon Jones (deceased) and Denise Humphries, Palmerston North.
Adored Uncle to Paul, Mark and Andrea Humphries.
Great Uncle to Danielle, Julia and Mac Humphries.
Friend to Cath and Elaine.
A memorial service to celebrate and honour his life will be held at Guardian Funeral Home, 4 Moorefield Road, Johnsonville, Wellington on Thursday, 10th September 2026 at 11:00 am.
A private cremation has been held.

Gary has been an amazing neighbour to us for the last 23 years! He always had a smile and helped us in so many ways. He was caring and interested, asking after our family and keeping an eye out. He will be missed. We are sorry we cannot attend the funeral, our thoughts will be with you tomorrow.
We were so sad to learn of Gary’s passing. We lived next door to Gary for a few years and as I’m sure all of that area of Nagio will attest, he is gold. Such a superstar of a neighbour, from helping me lift a pram up some steps with a sleeping child, to entertaining our dog until we got home, helping with the gardening or a diy task. Always great banter and a friendly wave. Rest in peace Gary, thanks for everything. All our thoughts are with Gary’s family.
