On behalf of the Khandallah Bowling Club, our condolences to Don's family. Don was a well liked member of our club and many of the longer serving members can remember Don, and the many rollups we shared with Don. What fun we’ve had with Don over the years! Steve and I, and especially Steve, spent many a day with Don. He was a great mate to Steve and stuck by him through some pretty tough times. Together they enjoyed fishing, golf, Friday lunches and, I’m sure, a few other adventures that were probably best not recorded! One of my favourite memories is their “Around the Vines” day in Martinborough. As the afternoon turned into evening and there was still no sign of them, we started to wonder if they had taken a wrong turn somewhere. Eventually, they appeared — very happy, very relaxed and definitely not walking in a perfectly straight line! Clearly, they had taken the “Around the Vines” part of the day very seriously, with quite a few wines sampled along the way. I’m so glad I had the chance to know Don. He always had a way of putting a smile on my face, and he will be remembered with lots of affection and plenty of good memories. Rest in peace, Don. You’ll be missed.

Our deepest sympathies to the Tyson family. Don was a long time neighbour and friend in Khandallah and will be missed by all. He enjoyed the many friends and neighbours who often passed his house and joined him for a glass of wine in the garden. Through him we met his extended family who often visited and became friends as well.. June and Phil.

Don was a great friend to my father, Steve Strand. He was kind and loyal to Dad, and to my mum. He was so funny, and together, Dad and Don were hilarious. I'm so sorry for Don's family and friends - I'm sure he'll be missed dearly. I'm also very grateful to have had him in our family's lives.
