Tributes

I met Joy when popping into Victorianas for flowers & she hadn’t long opened the shop. It was a great florist & a few of us from CIT days used to frequent. Also for gifts as she often had great taste & I’d often find a perfect one. Joy always welcomed one as if it was yesterday we last saw each other. We’d chat about our families & life. Then I used to see her when she came into my work @Boulcott. Always bright & cheerful no matter what. She was very proud of her girls & then grandies. Since I retired I hadn’t seen her as much & life sends changes to us all. So it was a surprise to learn Joy had been battling such a cruel illness. My sincere thoughts are to her husband & girls & family. May this lovely Joy rest in peace.

Dear Derek and Family. I was saddened to hear of Joys passing and sending love and condolences to you all. Joy was such a beautiful person with her fabulous smile, and bubbly personality. On my visits from Christchurch, Joy was always ready for a chat about old nursing days or what our family's were doing when I visited Victoriana. To Kyra and Lorene, the words you shared about your mum during the service were so special, she would be extra proud of you both for undertaking this task at a difficult time. Treasure all the wonderful memories and times spent together and speak of her often. Joy will always be with you. Rest in love Joy. It was wonderful to know you. You will be another bright shining star up in our night sky.

I just want to send all my love to Joy's family and especially Kyra. I remember returning home to Wellington from living in Nelson and touching base with lovely Kyra whom I did my florist studies with. Joy gave me a casual job in 2011/2012 covering staff. I always appreciated that work and enjoyed my time with Joy! She was always very kind to me. I hope you are at peace Joy, Thank you for your kindness in the short time I spent with you xx Sending all my love and thoughts to all those that loved her and especially her beautiful family.
