Thank you for the many years of faith, love and service you have given so generously to our families and our communities. Your ministry has blessed generations and we will always be grateful for the way you have walked alongside our people, holding our cultures and languages with you and kept God at the centre. Such a shock to learn of your sudden passing. I send my heartfelt condolences to your dear sisters and extended family. You have left a big hole in their hearts. I watched your Vigil Mass and was totally in awe with the friends, family and community that came to celebrate your life. I can imagine you would be totally shocked at how much you were loved and respected, but I know you would be proud. It was a rocky road sometimes at Holy Family Parish working as your secretary, good times and good banter too, until my family left Wellington to return home to Tauranga. I remember your kindness when my mum passed away and I thank you for that, and for your faithful service to all you ministered to. Rest in Peace Pene.

Love you Uncle, thankyou for everything you did for our family and thankyou for sending Mum and Dad off first ❤️ I hope they're celebrating you up there the way you celebrated them down here🤍
I was very privileged to work with Father Pene when I was director of Religious Studies at Holy Family School Porirua. He was always very helpful and encouraging of any ideas that I discussed with him. He was always positive and really interested in the children and staff. His deep love of God was evident in all that he did. I was so pleased to meet him again when he came to Our lady of Kapiti and enjoyed some chats about Holy Family. Rest in peace Father Pene. You will be sadly missed
Father Penehe, We love you so much and we are so going to miss you. Thank you for your prayers and love all these years. Now go and rest you faithful servant of God.
Pā Pene - you brought laughter into our parish with your love for rugby. You always reminded us to sing with vibrancy to God with passion. That legacy remains. We are grateful for your efforts to incorporate reo and matauranga Māori. To your whānau and friends who mourn, may you find peace and comfort in God. We thank God for the laughter, the songs, and the beautiful ministry he shared with us. Haere, e te hoa pono, haere ki te okiokinga mutunga kore. Rest in eternal peace - good and faithful servant.
Thankyou Fr Pene for the time you spent with Our Lady of Hope parish. From the first time you arrived - your warm welcome to all, usually with a humorous reference to rugby, Go the Hurricanes! ... to encouraging all to participate in the Mass. May you rest in peace - God bless you.
Rest with the angels padre

Fr Pene’s warm smile, joyful singing, and spontaneous kindness touched so many of us. He lived his calling with impeccable grace and unwavering dedication, leaving a legacy of love throughout our Catholic community. He will be deeply missed. We extend our heartfelt sympathy and prayers to his extended family during this time of sorrow. May perpetual light shine upon him, and may he rest in eternal peace.
Blessings and prayers to the Whanau of Fr Pene 🙏. The community of Porirua and Kapiti will miss your presence in the Parish and the Tokeleaun communities whose lives he touched . My family were looking fwd to seeing Fr Pene in 2027 as we move to live in Kapiti from Hawkes Bay . Your memory will live on in those whose hearts and lives you touched . RIP and may the Angels carry you into Heaven .
Father Pene spent only a small amount of time amongst us in our Wairarapa Parish, but his devotion to service and community were clear, and he inspired us to become better versions of ourselves. He brought prayer and song, and he will be sorely missed. My condolences to his family, close ones, and those whose lives Father Pene impacted. Father, I'll do my best to honour you by praying well, and singing well.
