Uncle Lew A true gentleman, thank you for being apart of my life, always up for a good prank, always ready to cheat at any game, always stirring the pot with a wicked smile. My second home away from home during my teenage years. My love for you and Anne will be with my forever, thank you for being the man that you are. I still remember the times I caught you smoking at the part, it was always don't tell your aunty Anne, well who was going to go against aunty Anne - yet no one. You always got an ear full when you came back home. Or the lollies in the van, when you did at times give up smoking, us kids really hated that one. My last visit with you in Feb 2026, was you telling me what an idiot the police commissioner was, you had written to him telling him what a ... he was for sending the police launch in that storm, in the cook strait. My response well did you think he would respond, he said yes, I laughed. I left that day knowing that was the last time I would see you, my heart was full with love. rest easy with Aunty Anne, I'm sure that you will be giving everyone you wicked ways, and cheating at games Love with always be with you in mind, Love you always Annita xxxx

Uncle Lew, Thanks for being such an amazing man, we the young boys from the old island bay gang could look up to. I, being the youngest to the tribe in those days, used to spend hours in your office, (while you adults partied), captivated by the nautical and seafaring wonders in there. Maps plotted, charts tacked to walls, radios blaring and globes to spin all under a dim light. Matt and I were fortunate enough to have you take us on board the tugboat a couple of times to show us the world of the working man, something we would never have seen without you, and we most definitely benefitted from. Your home was always so full of love, a warm welcome and family fondness, to so many of us. You guys were the pillar of our community. Many of my first memories took place there, and so too did my final memories of New Zealand, as you accommodated us before my family set sail for Australia. I bid you farewell and wish you plain sailing and Godspeed on your last voyage. Thank you for being such an amazing role model, father figure, and friend to us all. Love to all the Robinson clan

So sorry to hear that Lew and Ann have passed away. I have lots of memories of visits to Aunty Joyce and Uncle Gordon's Island Bay home many years ago.. Those occasions were always filled with laughter and happiness. I regret not being able to attend Lew's farewell on Monday as my mobility is not that great. My friendship with the Robinson boys and there sister goes back to the Island Bay school days and our family and theirs became good friends when Neville and I became members of the Wellington Speed Boat Club back in the 1950s. My younger brother Ron worked for the harbour board but not at sea with Lew and my other younger brother Erol did some sailing with Lew. Both my brothers have health problems and I am bouncing off 90 and become too big a responsibility for me to drive them down to the Pines from Kapiti. So we will be thinking of you all and watching the service live stream. Rest in peace Lew. Ian Crosland
