What a lovely tribute to a kind and funny man.. loved hearing all the stories and seeing the photos. Pete looks like he had a great life with many fun experiences, and looks particularly happy with Lindsey and his children. Im so grateful for how Pete helped me in my new home and helped me take my own mental health more seriously a few years ago. Rest in peace, Pete and love to his beautiful whānau xx
We were the “likely lads”, Pete, and no mistake; so inseparable at school that the teachers went out of their way to split us up! Thankfully, it didn't last. We met up after school, walking the length and breadth of the “shore” and putting the world to rights. Where did the time go, my friend? We kept in touch though - our whole lives; still sharing the same Irish humour and silly jokes that only you and I thought were funny. I’ll miss the laughs, Pete - I really will. You were one of a kind and the only friend I’ve known since we were ten. I hope you’ve found peace. I’m only sorry I couldn't be there for you in person! We still had so much to do; places to explore, problems to solve and people to meet - some other time maybe? You touched a lot of lives, Pete and left a sad world behind. See you again someday soon, I hope…....
To Pete, 'So fill to me the parting glass And drink a health whate'er befalls Then gently rise and softly call Good night and joy be to you all.' It needs your Northern Irish Twang rather than my Scouse one, and you always pointed out that Liverpool was shite when you visited years ago. Laughs, banter, the distaste for bullshit, and genuine heart for the kids who were fortunate to be taught by you are just some of what we miss. Peace and freedom to the Belfast Kiwi now. Our love and thoughts to your Lindsey, Kirsty and Jonny, and your whole family. Carol, Ste, Conor, Frank and Rory
Pete, I am missing you already! We all loved your grin, accent and giggles you bought to us daily, always popping into The Hub making sure everything was under control and that the chess team were sorted! I have put a picture of you in my office and kids come in and stroke your lovely happy face. We all loved you Pete and I totally miss leaving HPC daily with the smile you always put on my face. "I'm missing you already Amanda" you always yelled out. Beautiful memories shared in a lovely service I have watched from home. My thoughts are with your family and friends, treasure the memories and look after each other. You have left footprints on our hearts, never forgotten, rest in peace Pete.
Hello Peter, I will miss the golf catch-up when I return next to NZ. You would always ask me to come to Te Ahora to play golf as it was closer to you. Thank you for offering me a room to stay at your place during my stay in NZ. I remember having that morning coffee in school with you. It was a pleasure making you one: extra creamy. We had to hide our coffee as someone else was drinking it. You had always put your team first and made sure everyone was heard. We always looked up to you for your guidance. Those memories will remain.
Rhys - Pete, I knew where your secret Moccona stash was, but promise I didn't touch it lol! Grateful for our friendship and your positive, happy, caring and kind ways. We will miss you, mate. Torz - I was so proud to be apart of your Mathematics team, and even when I was teaching in another department, you still invited Rhys and I to come along to your BBQ's and Christmas dinner's - which you and Lynsey contributed generously to!! I remember thanking you for being like family and you would always say "once apart of the team, always apart of the team" even though I was in another department. Thank you for always checking in about Kyrie. You would always say family is the most important thing and to look after ourselves. We love you Pete and thinking of you Lyndey, Jono, Kirsty and all of your families. Victoria Dickey, Rhys Clemson + little Kyrie xox
We really appreciate all you did for Finn. He enjoyed the banter you had with him. Over these last weeks he has shared with us many stories and memories. You will be missed.
Mr McGregor was the best teacher, I loved learning in his class and when I found out he passed, I started crying. Thank you sir for all you did to help em to where I am.
Peter - Missing our morning check-ins and you pointing out I was in my regular spot, huddled in the corner. You always made sure I was getting by and offered positivity and brightened my mornings. I still don't know who was stealing your precious Moccona coffee but it definitely wasn't me! My thoughts to all close to you.
May the Irish hills caress you / May her lakes and rivers bless you. God bless your soul and your family. Working with you was a pleasure. Your love of your family was a strong as your love of your home country. You brought fun and enthusiasm to all that you did and working with you was a pleasure. Though you are gone, your memory remains.
To grandad, I am going to miss you a lot. I loved your jokes and wish I got to hear more of them, you were very kind and funny. I wish we had more time.. All of my love, Spencer.
Peter, memories last a lifetime and I will always remember playing with you when we were both children. It was a sunny day and I chased you around your garden. I want to send my heartfelt sympathies to your wife, children and extended family at this sad time and know that the happy memories you made with them will live forever in their hearts.
Grandad, I'll miss you more than anything. I wish I had chance to say goodbye, but I hope you have a great time in heaven. I hope they have everything you wanted up there. I'll remember the times you bounced me on your knee. I will laugh about the times I was in the middle of talking to you and you walked off! I'll remember the times I couldn't understand what you were saying because you talked so fast. I'll remember all your bad jokes and laughed about them to yourself. I hope you know how much I loved you, and that I love you more than all the stars in space. I love you a thousand times more than all the sand on the beaches . I miss you xxx
Grandad, I really enjoyed when you used to sing the song "giddy up horsey" when I sat on your lap. I just wanted to say that I will never ever forget you. I love you always and I came 1st place on sports day, I kept saying to myself grandad is watching. I will never forget you grandad. All my love Phoebe PS, I will look after mom xxxx
Dad, I will never forget the way you laughed, the sound of your voice or how you'd look at me when I made a joke about you, you'd follow it with the comment "funny girl eh" You will be in my thoughts every day, I'll miss you forever. I hope you're at peace dad. Until we meet again Love you always, your "wee girl" x
The brother in law who was more like a brother. We had many good times over the years and the memories will be lasting. I know if Peggy was still here she would be b bereft. It's hard to think of things to write but you will be missed by a multitude of people including those you spent so many hours teaching.. Love you bro
Uncle Pete, when I think of you, I can't help but smile. You were definitely the loudest of the brothers, and your sense of humour was completely unfiltered. You never knew what was going to come out of your mouth next. Sometimes you had everyone in stitches, sometimes you raised a few eyebrows, but you were always unmistakably you. Although you and Lindsey moved to New Zealand and we didn't get to spend as much time together, that's how I'll always remember you—larger than life, full of laughter, and impossible to ignore. You'll be missed. Lindsey, Carly, Grace, Kirsty and Jonny, my heart is with you today. I hope you know how loved you all are and that you're in all our thoughts. We wish we could take away even a small part of your pain, but we hope you find comfort in knowing how many people are here to remember him and to support you. Rest easy, Uncle Pete. You'll never be forgotten.
Goodbye Pete your legacy is really the lives you have touched, your beautiful wife and Kids and the inspiration you gave to me sometimes just for a moment, which was enough, you made us think, you made us laugh, and we never fell out. More than anything, you will be remembered for your smile and drinking my Potcheen, but I don’t hold it against you. Take care mate wherever you are.
