A lover of life, a talented photographer, a consummate host, a keen golfer, and the most beloved Aunty… Betty passed away peacefully in Auckland.
Small in stature but leaving a disproportionately big hole in our extended family, Betty will be remembered for her quiet, egoless service to her community, her warm hospitality, and the joy she found in life’s simple pleasures. She travelled the world, always curious and open to adventure, and never lost her love for a good game of Housie and a shared laugh.
Much loved daughter of William and Lily Tuson (both dec’d). Devoted sister of Harold (dec’d) and sister-in-law of Peggy (dec’d). A treasured Aunty Betty to Jane and John, Terry and Mark, Paul and Caryll, Michael (dec’d), Briody and Hedley (both dec’d), John and Lyn. She was deeply loved by her many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

A service for Betty will be held at Eagars Te Henui Chapel, 46 Watson Street, New Plymouth, on Friday 3 July 2026 at 10.30am. For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed on her tribute page at eagars.co.nz/betty.

We shared many conversations, laughter, and support over the years, and we are grateful to have known her. We will remember her with warmth, kindness and respect. Rest in Peace dear Betty. A lovely lady now at rest. Condolences to Jane and families. Jane and I were neighbourhood/primary school friends. Will always remember going with Jane to "Gran an Aunty Betty's" house.
