Tributes

I have had the privilege of knowing Victor for 47 years He was so good to my daughters..I appreciated a particular time when I just needed him to help me with my daughter Ophelia..to get her to to Irish dancing workshop she was doing in Wellington. She went in to stay at there house in karori. She was 12 And he ferried her to and fro for 3 days. I was so grateful to him as I had 3 little ones at home and was a bit stressed. I am always so thankful to him for that will ever forget it RIP dear Vicky xxxx

Victor’s sudden passing came as a great shock, and I will miss him deeply. For many years, I had the privilege of sitting across the lunch table from Victor almost every working day. Those lunch breaks were filled with conversations about all kinds of topics, from everyday events to life’s bigger questions. They became an important and enjoyable part of my day. As someone whose English is far from perfect and still carries a strong Russian accent, I especially appreciated Victor’s remarkable patience. He always took the time to listen, never rushing me, never making me feel uncomfortable, and never judging me. He listened with genuine interest and respect. What stood out most about Victor was his character. He treated people as they were, regardless of their background, position, or circumstances. He respected everyone and accepted people without judgment. In a world where this quality is increasingly rare, Victor embodied it naturally and effortlessly. Victor was a real gentleman in every sense of the word. He was kind, respectful, thoughtful, and considerate of others. He carried himself with quiet dignity and treated everyone with courtesy, regardless of who they were. His kindness, patience, and humanity touched many lives, including mine. I feel fortunate to have known him and to have shared so many conversations and moments with him over the years. Victor will be remembered not only for the things he did, but for the way he made people feel: respected, heard, and valued. I would also like to extend my deepest condolences to his partner Janne, his son Damien, his daughter Amara, and to the entire family. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time. May the love and memories you shared with Victor bring you comfort and strength in the days ahead. Rest in peace, Victor. You will be greatly missed.

Having known Victor through work for 11 years, he was humble, honest, loved Israel and deeply cared for his family. May his memory be a Blessing!

I never knew Victor well as the age difference was great and we had no contact for many decades...My memories are therefore limited to my childhood... Visiting Uncle Jack's workshop in Newtown with my father after Sunday Hebrew School, - there would be Jack and Victor working away together with the steam of hot metal from soldering irons, iron filings carpeting the ground and rows of waffle sandwich makers and ornamental horses waiting to be polished. Very happy to be in each others company. Then the stories of Victor's rebellious streak, breaking the ground for his younger brothers and cousins to be allowed more freedom than if he hadn't forged the way for a new generation from immigrant, older sensibility parents. Unfortunately, just a short conversation with him at a cafe in Israel was all I could have after all those years. Not the chance to hear his stories of our lives in Wellington when I was so young. But appreciated that I had at least that last opportunity to reconnect. I wish his children and partner a long life and only blessed memories of Victor.

Victor May their memory be a blessing. The world is a little dimmer without you, but your memory brings a light that will never go out.
