Vaughan, it was an absolute pleasure to have been one of your nurses over the past couple of years. I still don't quite know what I'll do without our laughs and your incredibly quick, and witty sense of humor. You always managed to make me laugh after making fun of me in the best way possible. You were so good to have a joke with, as well as a chat about family, work etc. You were always keen to talk about family and how proud you were of your daughters. To Vaughan's family, I'm so sorry for your loss. Vaughan has seriously left a mark, and his absence will be noticed for a long time. X

Thank you so much for the times we’ve shared in Renal Unit. I am so honoured and very privileged to have had the opportunity to care for you, even more so after listening to your family and friends. I feel extremely honoured to even receive my own nickname from you - “Rowdy”. Thank you for all the wonderful banters and memories. Fly high now and be free King Vaughan aka King Julian. Much love.

Dear Vaughan, I gave you your first hemodyalisis treatment and your last and many in between. I stood beside you before transplant attempts I listen to your dry humour and shit attitude at times and every second was a privilege. The 40 plus single group just got smaller. I might have to actually talk to a girl now instead of you. It was a beautiful sendoff and Rowie did you proud Miss you mate , Rodney Davie

Lauren, Meg and families My sincere condolences and sympathy to you all. It was so sad to hear of Vaughan’s passing. He will be very much missed and always had a sense of humour. He was always approachable for advice and had great integrity. RIP mate.

Was saddened to hear that you've left this world way to young Vaughan. I haven't seen you in years, but enjoyed working with you at Everest Vincent many years ago in that tiny house in Gover St ... you were always upfront, a bit naughty, funny, and alongside Anthony created a very good accounting firm ... a huge accomplishment you can both be so proud of, and I'm so grateful for the opportunity you both gave me by taking this somewhat unqualified office girl on to do accounting work. Your passions back then were running, soccer (I think you played every weekend, as you talked all things "soccer" quite regularly) and of course your beautiful girls who were only young - they were (and are) your world. Much Aroha to your family.

Vaughan, you were so loved and cherished by us all. The shock of your passing truly hasn’t set in yet, because you were so special. You never failed to make me laugh and you were the cheeky Tuesday we all looked forward to. I feel very fortunate to have known and cared for you and I will treasure all the yarns we got to have hearing about your girls, your life and good food. The last thing I remember you saying to me was toodle pip, so toodle pip to you Vaughan. We miss you dearly. RN Soph

You were one of a kind. So stubborn, so cheeky, and always ready to give me a hard time—but that’s exactly what made you so special. Our banter was the best, and I’ll miss it more than I can put into words. Every morning I’d look forward to seeing your cheeky smile. It was a privilege to care for you and to know you. You’ll always have a place in my heart- To Vaughan’s family, I am so incredibly sorry for your loss, he was so special-Nurse Kathy

Vaughan, you’re so special to us. We’re going to miss you so so much. We’ll miss your life stories, your determination to get what you want, your grumpiness (eye roll lol), your kindness, the love you have for your girls. You gave a lot to what you knew would be fruitful for you and the girls. Our lives won’t be the same without you. We will try our best and do you proud Vaughan, you’ve taught us so much, including what not to do lol. Thank you for everything xxoo The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace. ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭6‬:‭24‬-‭26‬ ‭ We’ll love ya always xo

Vaughan was a man of incredible strength and a truly forward-thinking spirit. I will always admire his ‘Ironman’ determination and the pride he took in his work and his family. I feel privileged to have shared time with him. My heart goes out to his daughters and family at this difficult time. - Jen.
