Tributes

Kuya Mike, we’ll truly miss you. Thank you for the pizza treats every time Ru Avery crossed paths with you at Becroft, and for all the games we shared. We’re grateful for your generosity, your time, and everything you gave to Supershots. You will always be remembered.

Yasser and Ru Avery

it was an honor to be a part of this family. Pareng Mike was a very kind person, helpful, soft spoken and humble. One thing I can't forget was the time when I was caught up alone in the rip in Ruakaka . He immediately came to my rescue. The numerous summer we spent with his family were all fun. Lastly, he introduced us to his siblings in the Philippines last Jan 2025. We have great time spending with our grandchildren and his siblings. Pareng Mike , your sudden death was a shock at first but knowing you did not suffer was a great consolation. We extend our deepest condolences and prayers With grateful hearts, thank you for all the kindness and camaraderie afforded to us. You will be in our prayers always. Please also intercede for us . Eternal rest grant unto the soul of Pareng Mike. May he rest in peace. Amen

To our dearest Tito Mike, It is hard to accept that you are no longer with us, but we are deeply grateful for the life you shared with us mula pagkabata po namin. Even at a young age, you taught us siblings a lesson we will never forget (sa tennis man po o sa buhay)—that discipline is more important than motivation. You are one of the people who guided us to understand that we won’t always feel motivated, and we won’t always feel inspired. But if you have a dream—especially one for your family—you must pair it with discipline. In the end, that is what will lead you to success. This is a lesson we will carry with us in every step of our lives. You were a very simple man po, Tito Mike—humble, quiet at palangiti. Yet behind that simplicity was a big heart, always ready to love and give. Tito Mike, we will miss you deeply. But the lessons you left us will live on—engraved in our hearts and minds as we continue to strive and dream. Maraming salamat po for all your love, guidance, and inspiration. Farewell po Tito. Continue to soar high.

It is with deep regret that Uncle Mike passed away before I could truly thank him. I will always remember the lessons he taught me—about sports, work—and carry them with me. You lived your days to the fullest, full of adventure, and we all admired you for that. To Auntie Joy and my cousins, I know your home will not be the same without his presence. You are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Farewell, Uncle Mike. Rest in peace. You will be deeply missed. Thank you.

He may not have been my own father, but Tito Mike treated me like one of his own. During our CLRAA days, I was with Ate Jennie and Shaj, and he made me feel like part of the family. He was a quiet man, but you could always feel his care and support. He didn’t need many words—just his presence was enough to make us feel guided and safe. I will always be grateful for him and will never forget his kindness. Thank you, Tito Mike. You will always stay in my heart.

Ate Jennie, thank you for allowing me to talk to Uncle Mike in his final moments. It meant so much to me that I was able to pray for him and tell him—perhaps for the first time out loud —how much I truly adored and admired him. Even back when I was in high school, he had already made such a profound impact on my life. Uncle Mike was more than just family to me. He was someone I looked up to, someone who inspired me to dream bigger, to step out of my comfort zone, and to become who I am today. In many ways, he became a father figure to me during a time when I didn’t have one. Though I may not have said it enough when I was younger, in my heart, he has always been my idol—someone whose strength and example guided me as I chased my dreams. Our family has gone through so much together. We were built through hardships, and because of that, we became stronger—able to face whatever challenges life throws our way. Uncle Mike was part of that strength. His presence, his influence, and his love helped shape the foundation of who we are as a family. I remember having a dream of him, wearing a white robe. And I hold on to that image with faith, believing that God has washed away every blemish through the blood of Jesus. It gives me peace knowing that he is now in a place of rest, free from pain, embraced by eternal love. Uncle, you may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts. Your legacy lives on in us—in the lives you’ve touched, in the dreams you’ve inspired, and in the love you’ve given so freely. Rest in peace now, Uncle Mike. You will always be remembered, always be cherished, and always be a part of who we are.

Dr. Mike Rodriguez may have been a man of few words, but his impact speaks volumes. As a colleague of Mike and his wife, Joy Gonzales Rodriguez, we've had the privilege of witnessing his dedication to his craft. Mike's humility and kindness earned him the respect and admiration of his students and peers alike. His contributions to Pampanga State Agricultural University will not be forgotten. Though he's no longer with us, his memory will continue to inspire and motivate us to make a difference. Rest in peace, dear Mike 🙏
