I’m sorry that I couldn’t be with you all, today, for Alastair’s final farewell, but I’m so pleased that I was able to see him, in person, very recently. Thank you, Cathy, for allowing me to share time with Al and to share memories. Al was a very special man and there are many of us who will miss him. My deepest sympathies to Cathy, James & Sam and to the extended family & friends. Love to all, Evan.

It was a privilege to have known Al since the early 1980s. He was a dear friend and a gentleman. I am sorry that I won't be able to attend your funeral today, Al, but a group of us are meeting in Wellington for lunch and we will fondly remember. One last glass my friend, santé! Vince

You have left footprints in memories for many people - thank you. Will also never forget your recycling ideas and your fab Black Forest Gateau. To Cathy, James & Sam it was a real shock to hear of Alastair's passing. Alastair was my Secretary when I was Station Manager of New Plymouth Power Station from 1987 to 1990. The last time I met him was at the Power Station reunion in 2023. He was a superb help to me and became a special friend to both Shona and I. Gary & Shona Campbell
