Tributes

When I first joined the building community after moving to New Zealand 34 years ago, I met Kevin. He became my mentor, even teaching me how to say “bloody hell” the proper Kiwi way, as English is my second language. He was a protective and generous friend who shared invaluable building knowledge—especially when it came to tackling leaky houses—and showed me how to deal with the “bloody council” to get things done smoothly. He will be dearly missed—my long-time friend, mentor, fellow fur grandpa, walking buddy, coffee buddy, and just a “bloody” good guy.

To the uncle that gave me some of the best advice a young 14yr old could get when starting at a boarding school in Auckland he said to me it’s a couple of years of your life enjoy it and when it’s done go out there and show everyone what your made of which stuck with me my whole life but besides the all the advice some in which I can’t repeat as well as all the memories and laughs and Kev trying to scare the shit out of everyone when he walk into the room, to Aunty Julie and to me Cousin sorry I couldn’t be there to support you in person but just know I’m thinking of you all and the kids and all the family, love you all, Rip uncle Kevin

Thank you Uncle Kevin for the fond (sometimes eccentric) memories. Your attitude to not give a f showed us to bot take life too seriously and to enjoy being yourself. We admire the close family you have created and send Mmuch love to you all. From the Peeters family.

I am sorry to learn of Kevin’s passing and have just viewed his service online which underlined what a wonderfully dedicated and proud family man he was. I was Kev’s client for many years when he represented Albany Timber Distributors. A man of boundless energy for whom nothing was too much bother. And great fun to socialise with on the company trips in Oz. My sincere condolences to Julie and family as you proudly reflect on the life of such a fine man.

They say a good man follows the rules, but a great father follows his heart and Dad, your heart was always with us. You taught me that family is the only thing that matters. Thank you for everything you’ve done and for making me the man I am today. Until we meet again. Love, Peter

Kevin, you crazy bastard! The stories of your antics had Kylie, Kathryn, and I laughing into our wines, till tears ran down our cheeks. Your legend was far reaching, from the old ladies taking a s*%t on the beach to the good looking barman at the Brownzy, who wouldn’t survive in jail, had those who had not met you wanting to hear more. Your amazing family is a true credit to you and Julie, now shinning through in your grandbabies. You will be missed by many. But not Farro, as they might start to turn a profit. Your TAB number will always be remembered ♥️ Sending all our love, Jen, Paul and Regan. xoxo
