It is with much sadness to read the passing of Alma in the Otago Daily Times today, she was an integral part of my life growing up in the early days. Alma was a very kind and caring person along with being a very hard worker and was a beautiful baker. Alma was always immaculately dressed, i rang her on several occasions at the retirement home in which she was always happy and cheerful to talk to me. Sadly missed, fly high my dear friend. Very sorry to see that Alma has died, my deepest sympathy to all the family. I met her at Curraghs Road, when we interviewed her about her work at Eden Hore's farm near Naseby. She was a lovely, dignified woman and very generous to us with her time and knowledge of that time, showing us some of the clothes she had from that time in her life. It was such a pleasure to meet her having heard about her from Eden and others over the years. I hope to attend the graveside service on Friday to pay my respects.
