It's been a privilege to join with John's family with all the memories of him. Thank you to Jeff who managed to break into his computer in order to invite us. I particularly remember John's brilliant cartoons when I knew him at school. We lost touch for a time after school, but he called to visit us, with Vince, on his trip to England and we've continued our friendship on emails since. It was always good to get his Christmas news and pictures, Recently my husband, Dick, had a College re-union in Bristol, and, whilst there we spent a very nice afternoon with Vince and Kate, and were pleased to be able to see his superb ship pictures in his house. We were very saddened to hear of John's dying. We didn't realise that he was as ill as he was, and can but feel a sense of peace for him that he is now at rest.. We send our thoughts and prayers to Ruentong and all of John's family, and thank you very much for making the ceremony available on line.
I remember John from DMGS as we both had a similar irreverent sense of humour and read sci-fi. I'm glad that he has had a happy and fruitful life in NZ. We rekindled our friendship again on FB sending almost daily drawings to each other with Draw Something, his drawings did of course put mine to shame, but I hope mine made him laugh a bit. attached is his last drawing to me and you see he hadn't lost his touch. A life well lived. My condolences to his wife, Ruentong and the rest of his family. He will be much missed by everyone who knew him.
