It’s been a long time since I’ve seen Ray, yet the terribly sad news of his sudden departure came as a real shock. Such a lot of water under the bridge and such great and vivid memories of the entire Clarkson clan, which more often than not involved Ray. His and Alison’s active participation, genuine care, and loving support in all those around them was, and is, as good as it gets. Thinking of you all so much at this time and so badly wish I was there. Great to see the camaraderie continuing between you boys on who the best son is; you’re all a part of Ray and Alison so it’s obviously a three-way-tie. Geoff.

Dear Alison and family, sorry to hear of the passing of Ray. A truely gentle, friendly and kind man who we remember often from our many trips to New Plymouth and at conferences we have all attended. Ian and I send our condolences to you and will always have you in our thoughts. Rose Fitchett

Ray was just about the nicest man I've ever met. He and Alison were there for me when I needed a surrogate Mum and Dad when times were tough. A hug from Ray akways made ne feel a bit better. I will miss his kidness and wisdom dearly.
