I will always remember the day we rode his moped to the Eltham dump. He pedalled furiously to propel this massively over stressed velocipede, straining to take our weight. When we arrived, he announced that he didn't come all this way for nothing. He reached into his pocket, pulled out a tissue and threw it into the dump! RIP. Uncle.
Jazz - such a humble, friendly guy, slighlty embarrassed by all the fuss about his own achievements, would honour those who fought in WWII in preference to talking about himself. Would be asked to put on his All Black blazer & come to our Primary School rugby team photos, & always obliged. Not just a great rugby player, but a really nice bloke, & great sense of humour. Commiserations to the Muller family.
Grew up hearing about this legend as a child from my father and finally got to meet and know him. Such a humble and lovely man. In maoridom when a respected elder dies they say a Totara tree has fallen. This man is a prime example of Elthams Totara tree falling. Rest in Peace Jazz....sending all our love to your family from the Turahui Whanau
Fond memories of Eltham school days when Jazz put fear & trepidation into those in the opposing team way back then. A true legend indeed !
