Ian, When we met in Zim years ago, you stood out not only because of your height. We became friends, in spite of our age difference (you were born on the same day as my father). You were great fun and highly entertaining -- but above all, a gentleman. You were a man of principle, but never narrow-minded. We shared many lively discussions, about everything under the sun and beyond. Then life, or rather political mayhem, forced us to move into different directions -- you to NZ and myself to the US. For quite some time, we held on to our plan to meet up in between, in Berlin, a city you were most curious about. But alas, that was not to happen and now you are gone -- but not forgotten. May your soul fly high, dear friend, and may you float among the stars, until you find the best speedway rink in the galaxies! The name Hoskins is such a famous name in our amazing sport, speedway. never to be forgotten. You, Ian, have lead a fascinating life, Thrilling The Millions, and I thank you, along with so many other speedway fans throughout the world for dedicating your life to our beloved speedway. Ian, What a wonderful life that you had living in so many different countries and making so many friends throughout the World. I remember visting you in Zimbabe and attending a play written and produced by you with a 'House Full' notice outside. My most recent visit to you in New Plymouth with my wife Eileen was a surpise visit when we enjoyed each others company and afternoon tea along with your cousin Sandie and other Speedway friends. Ian, you changed my life, and that of many many others. You taught us all so many things from your deep, interesting, and extensive knowledge. I remember fondly when we would play act the plays you wrote in our time together in Rhodesia. Great fun. You are missed and loved greatly. RIP
