It was an absolute privilege to know Shirley. She was one of life's real treasures because Shirley always looked for the good in every person she met. Even though she and her late friend Paul Callaway held quite opposite views about religion and other matters, they always quietly agreed to disagree. Shirley had a lovely, loving gentle soul and a strong Christian Faith which she never foisted onto anyone but quietly lived it. I shall always cherish the in-depth discussions and talks on many topics where I discovered Shirley's continual search for knowledge, truth and desire - as she used to say: " to know and be more like Jesus her Lord". Shirley was always so quietly proud of Simon. So happy that he cared so much for his Mum. So delighted when Simon was able to come to spend time with his Mum each day. I witnessed many an occasion when she gave him that special proud smile as his Mum for all that he was and all that he quietly did for her without any ceremony. Shirley was a special Lady and I can honestly that I miss her lovely smiling presence.. Remembered with love. Ian.
