A message to Elvie's niece's, nephews and friends. I have just learnt of Elvie's death. My sincere sympathy to you all. I was a very lucky young mother to have Elvie as my district nurse while living in Reporoa and having babies. Elvie always took an interest in the family and was extremely supportive when she visited us at home. I'm sure that we received a much better post natal service then than young Mum's do today.

Elvie I have many lovely memories of you when I worked at Rerewhakaaitu School that you visited as the nurse. Your wisdom, knowledge and practical sensible can do attitude was really valued. Your sense of humour and positive demeanour was always welcome plus your genuine concern for the health of the pupils. Such a treasure. Many happy memories
