Tributes

Gillian - So sorry to hear of Roger's passing. He was such a good mate to Grant all those years back and I have no doubt that they will be sitting reminiscing now with a beer or two. Maybe a whisky actually! They were always good for each other - helping with their writing and ideas etc. I still have the tribute that Roger wrote for Grant's funeral. That was very special. Rest in peace Roger and my love Gillian. Lois xxx

Every boy growing up needs someone who is not his father to look towards. Uncle Rog, or 'Wah' as dad called him was that person for me. As a kid he was larger than life always doing stuff with us - letting us do stuff but hanging around in the background to make sure we didn't end up in hospital. When I looked through the old photos it seems he was that uncle for all of the nieces and nephews... I still remember when you walked into nana's house she had a framed certificate on the wall for lieutenant Roger Magee and it was signed by the actual Queen! Nice to remember Rog this way. Was so fortunate to have got to spend some time with uncle Wah in his last days. Thanks so much to everyone that looked after Rog when he was unwell. Rest easy uncle Roger and give our love to your mate Ceddie up there

I didn’t know Rodger super well growing up, but had the privilege to get to know him a lot better in recent years. I would visit him at his rest home where he would share stories of his overseas adventures, and his many stories and poetry! He was a great talker and a confident man, the last conversation I had he was asking me if I would be interested in becoming a free mason! Thanks for the memories Rodger, I will miss seeing you!

When I think of uncle Roger he was someone who always had a way of making me feel important through his genuine interest in what was happening in my life throughout the years , I think this was one of his special powers and with tears in my eyes he will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by me in my older years as a colourful character, enjoy your next adventure Uncle!
