I stayed with Ken, Margaret and James back in 1997 when I was a fresh faced 18 year old rugby played from the UK. Brett was my coach back in the day… Wonderful people, a lot of memories I still think of today. Thank you for everything, your hospitality, patience and taking good care of me. I hope everyone’s ok, and even after all the years I still remember our time together as if it was yesterday. Love from Cornwall
To Brett, Lane, Sharlene, James and families Deepest sympathy from all of Aunty Peggies family for the loss of your Mum and Dad in such a short time. It has been many years since we have been together but the memories of Kenneth and Margaret on the farm in Midhirst and Stratford live on. Such good times when we were little. I remember Kenneth pulling us around on an old sack behind the tractor on Uncle Jacks farm. Love to you all.
To Brett, Lane, Sharlene, James and families Our deepest sympathy to you all on Margaret and Ken’s passing. Margaret and Ken were a devoted couple to each other and to you children, partners and grandchildren, not forgetting Lee Anne. They enthusiastically followed all your schooling and sporting activities getting much pleasure from your achievements. When James and our boys, Matthew and Liam were in the Francis Douglas 1st XV rugby team and they did a rugby tour to Brisbane, Margaret, Ken, Kevin and I joined the tour and enjoyed lots of fun with other parents and the boys. They gave many voluntary hours to the Midhirst School and Hall committees. While Ken was on the Midhirst School committee he gave many voluntary hours doing maintenance work. He went over and beyond the call of duty reroofing Alison Pulford’s home roof. At the time Alison, a teacher at the school, was going through a stressful marriage break up. So to do this was a very generous gesture. Margaret had a measured, humble personality. She loved fashion and was always impeccably dressed. She was a gifted floral artist giving many hours to doing beautiful floral work for weddings and funerals at many churches, hotels and wedding venues. She did the flowers for our son Michael and his wife Tracy’s wedding at the Eltham Catholic church and also at their reception venue in New Plymouth. She did this in her quiet humble way not seeking any recognition. Whenever I saw Margaret, the last time being at Jean Sandel with Ken I reminded her how much I appreciated it. Ken and Margaret “two lives well lived.” May they Rest In Peace. Warm regards, Kevin, Liz O’Sullivan and family.
Deepest sympathies to the Cookson family - we have lovely memories of Ken & Margaret from our Midhirst glory days! Such wonderful happy people.
