Tributes

Arthur was a much loved brother and I was so proud of his literary talents -his published books and newspaper columns .He had the ability to write short stories some quite humorous about a fellow bowler on the green or a chance meeting of someone in the street .He took many groups of people on tours of historical buildings and places in Hawera .He was a people person and will be greatly missed especially by his family.

Evelyn Warden (nee Fryer)

I am Arthur 's younger sister. Arthur looked after his younger siblings, two boys and two girls. When we went to swim in the river Arthur would check the river to make sure it was safe before we all jumped in . We looked up to him as our great brother and enjoyed the books that he brought home. John and I live in Auckland and it has been a privilege for us to visit Anne and Arthur through the years. We miss them both .

The Eltham Historical Society recognises with gratitude the work of Arthur Fryer in documenting and sharing the 'stories' and histories of the South Taranaki District. His knowledge will be greatly missed, but hopefully through his writing not all will be lost. We send our condolences to all the family at this time.
