He gave so much to the Okato community and was a great neighbour to us on Lower Pitone Road, Ron was truly a lovely man. We have wonderful memories of our dinners together, our trip to WOW, participation in charity golf matches and Lois being part of our tramping group. Dear Tracey Lianne Lisa and your families, So sorry to hear of Ron's passing. I was invited to spend school holidays with Ron and Lois as a 15 year old in 1962. Ron was such a wonderful person who helped me in my progress as a young adult and to nurture my love of farming. As the years passed and I was in distant locations, I was always welcomed back by Ron and Lois. Later Ron and I enjoyed standing on north bank of Rugby Park while watching Taranaki play the Boks. So sad that Ron has passed away - an end of an era. I have so many happy memories of overseas holidays that we shared with Lois & Ron - in particular the many bare-boat yachting charters. Ron was always unanimously voted to be our skipper and I always marveled at the manner in which he remained calm in many really 'tight' situations. R.I.P Ron. Ron was a special person. He and Lois were were so hospitable to us and wonderful hosts. We had some great walking holidays together. They both had such lovely open smiles.
