Rob's passing has comes as a huge unwanted shock. As a colleague Rob was always available, affable, witty and apposite. In some ways a quiet giant. In other times no so quiet. But he was part of my world for the past 15 years. We shared a common upbringing, experience of the Hawkes Bay and to quote Rob - a love of the trough - a gentle jibe that whilst we serve our community we acknowledge the strain on the public purse. I have been shaken by the huge gap that Robs death has caused in my world. I can only imagine how it has impacted elsewhere and heart goes out to everyone grieving and experienceing that loss. He was a fine man. A clever man. A driven man. A man who served his community and Jordy. I miss him now and I will always remember him. My love to his family. God bless you all.

Very sorry to hear of Rob's passing. The world of injury care providers benefited from Rob's knowledge and passion through the HQSC and POMRC and as had been planned this year with the National Trauma Network. Rob was a great contributor to healthcare provision in NZ and at a personal level a great listener and an enthusiastic activist for causes he felt strongly about. We will greatly miss your advocacy.
