"My name’s Patricia Gilchrist and Bill was my Dad’s eldest brother, affectionally known as “Willy G”. Bill and Ron were the best of brothers always looking out for each other although Dad said growing up Bill was the cheeky wee chappie. More than an uncle, Bill was my Grand Uncle Bill and a 2nd Dad. I can’t remember a time when Bill was not part of my life supporting and encouraging me; making me laugh and wiping my tears away while walking by my side or making a hot sweet cuppa Bill, always had time. When I was little, I loved the way Bill could tickle me with a hug – always made me giggle even as a young adult. Those big bear hugs made me feel so safe and loved. Our Aunty Vi used to say her toes curled when Bill walked into the room, "so handsome and oh what a distinguished gentleman". Bill loved to dance, loved to impress the ladies on the dance floor with his skills. His square dancing days I missed.
