Tributes

Very sorry to learn of Ros Lorimer’s passing. She was a brilliant teacher and an inspiring woman. I was lucky enough to get to know her and Gordon outside of the classroom due to their friendship with my parents, Trevor and Noreen Campbell. I would like to extend condolences from myself and my parents to Gordon and the girls. Kind regards Lesley

Dear Rozzie. We will all miss you very much. I am so glad to have spent some time with you & Gordie back in 2019 when I visited New Zealand with Matt & Emma. We had a wonderful time together. I remember how much you enjoyed our lunchtime outing to the Bayside Bistro on Snells Beach. I’ll always cherish those final memories with you. Although it’s sad to say goodbye, I’m happy that you have had such a long & happy life. Love Sam

Dear Gordon, Lindy, Jenny and Rachel, I'm very sad to hear of Ros's passing. The memory of her as a wonderfully supportive colleague during my time as a fledgling teacher at Mahurangi 50 years ago will remain with me forever. I also treasured the many Friday nights at Snells beach as we debriefed after the week's teaching when she urged me to pursue my hopes and dreams in a future beyond the Land of the Shore. She also initiated me into the appreciation of gin and tonic, often generously poured by Gordon whose treasure chest of jokes was immense. A woman of stature with endless capacity for friendship, generosity, fun and laughter - that was Rozzie. Robyn Richardson.

How sad to say goodbye dear Auntie Rozzie. You eere a big part of my young life and I remember you with much love and laughter. You set such a great example to your oldest niece; how to become a critically thinking woman in the 60s and 70s; your boundless energy, the feminist debates; the endless suggestions sometimes all night, as you Grannie and Mary negotiated The Times cryptic crosswords. You continuously managed your significant health issue with intellingence research and sound research you never gave in you incredible woman.i admired the way you faced the world overcoming obstacles with fierce determination and a grand sense of humour. My love to Gordie, lindy, jenny Rachel Rest in peace my dearest aunt Rosie Macalister

Auntie Roz - vibrant, bubbly, energetic and what an innings. Even though we lived at different ends of the country I always loved catching up with Auntie Roz whenever the opportunity arose. The last time was at Roxburgh when Lindy was on a visit and we had a lovely walk aroung Kath's garden. I will always remember our infrequent visits to Snell's Beach. With Roz's matter of fact manner nothing was a bother even when our child spilt soup all over the beautiful carpet. Mortified parent but chilled out Aunt. Gordon, Lindy, Jenny and Rachel - you are in my thoughts as you adjust to this major change in the family dynamics especially when the girls are currently so far away. My love to you all. Jennie.

Dear Oma Rozzie, I love to remember the time when we spent the summer holidays with you and Gordie as kids. You taught us how to bake bran muffins, we read story books together, went to feed the segals at the beach and so many more special moments. I miss you and will keep you close to my heart. Wishing I would have had the chance to see you again.

Granddaughter Isabel

Well we had a lot of fun over the years and although its been a while since I saw my Auntie Ros and Uncle Gordon the memories are fresh and happy. Always so positive to be around. I hope she's having a decent gin or ten up there with Willis and Mary. Hold that thought Willis may be down below. My heart goes out to you Uncle Gordon and of course to Lindy, Jenny and Rachel and all the rest of the family. Its never easy but goodness what an innings 90 years old.

I still have warm memories of my trips to NZ when Roz and her circle of friends embraced my being there and showed me the beach where my grandmother Gerti loved to swim. I felt very warmly received and I am thankful to this day I will miss her very much Our deepest condolences Susi & Mike ( Basel, Switzerland 🇨🇭)
