Tributes

Even if fate dragged us apart, you were the most influential person in my life. Your wisdom has not only created three wonderful children of mine, who had the most amazing grand father they could possibly have, but you have left a legacy, which no one will ever fill in mine and their life. Even if you did not believe, I know you are in heaven with out Lord. Bless you and the family. Andreas "former"" Girardet

To those he left behind, he had an amazing journey. What a life he bestowed on this world. His death is more a celebration of his life. As a man, as a husband, as a father. Our thoughts are with those left behind. Cai & Kathy Palmer

Just so many memories of Klaus - especially when I was a young lad in Tiri Road - watching fabulous home movies of Africa with Klaus providing the commentary - taking me sailing in a wee dinghy off Candida - hearing the call for Schnapps skiing in Tekapo. RIP Klaus we will keep your memory close. Jonathan Saint (aka "Johnson")

Thoughts with you Wes and girls on the passing of Klaus from my family and I. The years we spent working together were some of the most enjoyable of my career. As a leader, an innovator and a man of vision, Klaus allowed his second family (Candida Stationery) to flourish and grow always ensuring we operated as a family business. Reflecting today a smile comes to me as I remember those constructive, passionate and sometimes colourful debates we would have and often the ensuing laughter, as we navigated the world of business. And those from the Candida team will remember the pocket full of notes written nicely on pieces of cube paper that were always used as reminders of things that needed to be completed from the daily plant walk about or meeting we attended - a system that has become very useful to me in my future career. When I have been asked over the years to describe Klaus, I have always come back to describing him as a man with class in everything he did. "The man is class and has influenced and touched the lives of many" was how my conversations would normally end. Wes and Girls, thankyou for allowing us to share Klaus with you over the years . Dear Klaus travel well on your next journey. You shall be missed but not forgotten. Thank you for being the man you were. Paul Connolly

Some memories … Candida Memo cubes. … Educational dinner table stories. .. Sibilla and I sneaking tastes of schnapps from the liquor cabinet in our teens … German traditions such as coloured eggs at Easter spent on board Candida…

He was a modest man and never sought recognition for what he achieved, both for New Zealand and for the many staff who were allowed to show their abilities, and be recognised. He wanted the very best for, customers, staff, and even suppliers. The words "Quality and Service" were his cornerstone and in proving it he created a new standard in manufacturing, and business in general. Being there from day one was scary and challenging taking on the industry cartel, breaking through and eventually dominating both the New Zealand and Australian markets. Unknowlngly, he was like a father figure to me as my own father passed when I was in my early 40's. We were a good balance for each other, and it was so successful Unfortunately we parted after 23 years because as it was his prerogative when he changed his mind about manufacturing in Australia. The rest is history. I can only weep knowing that we have lost such a unique and inspirational man
