MILLER, Dawn Irene B.Com. [Nee Jermaine]. On 26th February 2022 peacefully in her 93rd year.

Treasured sister and sister-in-law of Alan and Ann Jermaine. Much loved aunty to Dianne Calderwood; Helen and Garry Trayes, Ngaire Jermaine and the late Tanya Davis [nee Jermaine] and Patrick. Loved great aunty to Rachael, Timothy, Kelly, Dylan, Connor, Sean and Aria. A great soul at rest.

A dedicated educator in high school commercial departments who retired as Assistant Principal (Senior Woman) at Massey High School. Dawn inspired thousands of young people to be the best they can be over her long career.

A philanthropist who made a difference to the lives of many young people in both New Zealand and in developing countries through her work with the Save the Children Fund. Dawn received SCF distinction awards from Princess Anne and some years later from Dame Cath Tizard for her long and dedicated service to the SCF.

Our thanks for the wonderful, caring staff at Greenvalley Lodge for their loving care of Dawn in her advanced years. Her final years were very happy and carefree.

A family memorial service has been held at Dill’s, Schnapper Rock on Friday, 15 July 2022.

Tributes

Mrs Miller was a wonderful commercial practice teacher and very kind to me. I often think of her and am sad to hear that she has passed but delighted to hear that she was happy up until the end. I know that she audited the Waiatarua Voluntary Fire Brigade books for many years and feel proud that I am now doing that job in her footsteps. Goodbye Mrs Miller xx

Mary Edwards (nee MacBride)

A wonderfully kind teacher when I was young at Wellsford District High School. Never to be forgotten.

May Potter (nee Donovan)

The Waitakere Branch of Save the Children (NZ) wish to recognize the commitment Dawn made to Save the Children. In addition to being the force behind the involvement and contribution made by members of the Massey High School community she acted as sponsorship secretary in our local group and was a generous sponsor and donor to our work herself. Dawn was a role model in her dedication to and enthusiasm for making the world a better place for children everywhere.

Nyra Sinclair

Dawn was a great lady, who, as mentioned in the death notice in the newspaper today, made a real difference to the lives of children in this country and overseas. She was on the finance committee at Holy Cross Church Henderson with my husband James. We saw a lot of Dawn and she had our utmost respect. We had lost touch, as we moved out of the area, but I often used to think of her. She was so generous with her time and her money. A true philanthropist. I trust she gets her true reward in heaven.
