I last spoke to Helen at a Reunion held 60 years on from our first attending CGHS in 1954. She told me of their impending plans to rent a house in France for the next year and also remembered our respective families meeting up on holiday on the West Coast. Our fathers were both teaching at CBHS. I am sorry to see where she has passed away and offer my deepest sympathy to her husband and family. Kind regards, Diane Johns.
I first met Helen while Dave and I were completing our RNZAF pilot's course in 1961/62. We were both subsequently posted to No. 5 Squadron Fiji and what a wonderful time we all had there. After leaving the RNZAF Dave and Helen remained in Auckland while we relocated to Christchurch and later the UK. Over the years although we lived a distance apart, Dave and Helen always kept in touch and would visit us whenever they were in our area (whether Christchurch, UK or France). Ainslie and I both have fond memories of these times we had together. RIP Helen. John and Ainslie
We first met Helen in 1966 and over the years we became great friends with her and her husband, David. Over the years we have had some wonderful experiences with them from overseas trips to canal boating and yachting. They were always great fun to be with! Helen was a great researcher and we could always be sure that she had all of the required information. Rest in peace Helen. You will always have a place in our hearts. Farewell dear friend!
