To Geoff, Maureen and extended Family Although we lost contact many years ago I have vivid memories of Daphne; clever, witty enthusiastic, wise, kind and always poised. Daphne is someone, that in the 60 years of my life since we met, has always been a woman to aspire to. The time I spent with here wasn't much, but is imprinted in my being. I feel our lives would have been quite different, through the support and generosity of spirit, especially for our Mum when we first came to Auckland. She sure was one of a kind. Much love. Kate.
Tribute to Daphne: My dear Aunty Daphne, well that’s what I knew her as. A courtesy aunt, and my mother, Vivienne Williamson’s closest friend. They met at primary school and stayed friends through thick and thin. Daphne was fun to be with and as a daughter after two brothers she helped influence me to be strong through adversity! She worked hard all her life and had sage advice for all stages, usually delivered with much humour. She played guitar well and sang with a strong voice. To me she grabbed hold of life and made sure she worked for what she wanted but enjoyed every minute of the journey. She was steadfast in her friendships and said the hardest thing to a long life was watching all your friend slowly go. She was a very busy visitor of rest homes, hospitals, and funerals as a result. I’m sorry we can’t be there in person Geoff and Maureen but we should meet up soon and raise a glass to a truly unique woman. Sally and Bruce Wilson
We were very honoured to have attended Daphne’s 100th birthday a couple of months ago and enjoyed seeing the photos of her life. Daphne certainly looked like she had lived her best life and took advantage of opportunities that were presented to her which is a lesson for us all. I remember on one of Carl’s birthday dinner celebrations what a great sense of humour she had, and was quite mischievous and hilarious with a story she was recounting. We loved her immediately. Sorry we cannot be there in person so support you all due to Covid, but we are thinking of you all. Love from Karen and Nic xx
