Well! Where to start!? This gentle giant came into my life when i was about 7 years old. He made a huge impression because i had never come across someone quite so full of life, joie de vivre and passion for enjoyment. I remember scenes of chaos after Dave had been in the kitchen, making curry and what not. But where was the problem in that when such a wonderful evening ensued. I have a passionate love for my Godmother Kathryn, and took such joy at all stages in my life thus far to know that here was the very definition of love, and care, and devotion and protection. Real relationship goals. I hate that such a big man suffered so greatly, but i also know that the brightest diamonds always go through the hottest flame. An absolute legend, touching many hearts and creating many hangovers! Our love to all of you attending tomorrow, some of you i know, most of you i don't, but we all have something in common right now don't we? Missing and hurting from the loss of an incredible man. God bless big guy. Your hugs will go down in history. What i wouldn't give for one of those belters!!! 🥰🥰🥰
Dear Kate and Family, We're so sorry we can't be with you all today, but we'll certainly be thinking of you all. We met Kate in Bayswater through our SPCA rescue dog Susan who kept escaping and running away to Kates. Kate always brought her back or phoned to say she was there. Then along came Big Bear Dave! Many good Friday nights followed, many good meals and a glass or two reds. George especially recalls abusing Dave over sports matters, calling him a "South African Git" on every occasion!!! Even after we left Auckland name calling was quite normal! He was indeed a true gentleman and friend, now sadly missed. Rest in peace now friend. Lots of love, George and Helen. ps we would really appreciate this be read out. Many thanks.
We treasure the times we met Dave, particularly remembering his gracious and generous. hospitality. Dave was the perfect gentleman. Dave will be missed with great sadness.
The big man was kind and generous, a fabulous cook and a great host. He had a big heart, loved his family to bits and he will be forever remembered and we will miss him.
A friend for well over 4 decades, Dave was always a gentleman. I will always be grateful for the care, support and love he gave Kate and the girls. He'll be sorely missed.
