Our lovely 95 year old neighbor Doris passed away last week and we miss her immensely... We miss her friendly smile and waving to her in her kitchen from the reserve while walking our dogs, We miss waving to her every time we walked past her house even if she didn't see us and her chats from her balcony. We will miss her warm welcome any time we popped in to see her for a chat.. she always put the kettle on for a cup of tea. We will miss her friendly voice on the phone when we called to check she was ok. We will miss her wonderful stories of her life and the history of our neighborhood. We will miss her calling to thoughtfully offer us fruit or plants from her garden. We will miss her laugh and great sense of humor. When we would show concern for her health, she would always answer 'you can't kill a weed'. We will miss her positive outlook on life. She was an amazing lady and a true inspiration. As we reflect on our long friendship.... what really mattered was caring connection, being real, being in the moment and showing loving human kindness.
