I am so grateful to the beautiful Trina for reading this letter as below to Aunty Jan in the hours prior to her passing. You will be sorely missed Aunty Jan, we love you. Aunty Jan, This is a message from Paigey and I to tell you all the things that we may not have had the chance to express in person nor known quite how to do so - hence writing this letter. You have been in our thoughts a lot lately and if there’s anything the horrible “C word” has taught us it’s to always let your loved ones know how much they are valued as there may come a time where you can no longer voice these things. There was a pivotal moment where we both witnessed and acknowledged the true love you shared with Uncle Wynne and it is something we often speak of and aspire to have in years to come. It was at Nancy’s funeral and we were seated behind the two of you and we watched as you giggled together and the love radiated from both of you, it was so special. It was the kind of love that I’ve witnessed with only a select few and it was contagious. With that being said, give Uncle Wynne a big cuddle from each of us when you reach him. I won’t go on for much longer but I wanted you to know that we both love and adore you and feel absolutely blessed to have had you in our lives all this time. Your humour, strength and energy is unmatched Aunty Jan. This isn’t goodbye, it’s I’ll see you later ❤️

I am so grateful to have been Jan's friend and neighbour. I will always remember when we would walk all over Mangawhai, sometimes more than 5km a day. What I loved the most was when you would carry dog treats for the local dogs like Kahlo, Connie, Ziggy and any other dog we came across. How we would end our walks with a coffee and a treat. We would always have some great laughs together I will never forget. You were always baking or cooking for us which we really appreicated and will miss. I will never forget your wise words, your kindness and advise whenever I needed help. You will be dearly missed my beautiful friend. Jan, Ia manuia lou malaga. Alofa tele lava xx Sno & Gordon

Aunty Jan or Mrs Clampet as I lovely referred to you as. We are certainly going to miss you. The laughs and funny times when you and Mum were up to no good travelling in the car. The abuse from the pair of you about who was deaf. Calling each other dozzy tarts. Verne want to know who's going to make his Christmas chocolates. The only concession of you not being here with us all is I find comfort knowing you are with Uncle Wynne. Love to you both. Thinking of you all at this time. Xxx Debbie and Verne Patten
