Funeral service held at Dil's Funeral Services

Tributes

Dear Tom and Lisa, that service was a beautiful heartfelt tribute to our dear Anne. I have many happy memories of your mother. I came to know her and your father when she and John first settled in the Gallagher’s Canyon community. We socialized at each other’s homes and Anne was so much fun. We did a lot together: tennis, cycling, hiking, walking, drinking, eating and snow shoeing. Plus, Anne was a big part of our book club, and, of course, the games she introduced me to like Mexican Train. I am thankful to have know your parents. May it comfort you and Lisa to know that we care.

Dearest Tomos, Lisa and John, I am so sorry for the loss you are feeling for your Mum's untimely passing. What a beautiful celebration of her life that, was, you both spoke so movingly - well done that must have been hard. Anne is my first cousin - Tomos you may remember when we met again at Gill's place with my son Martyn and Joel. You three boys were all born in the same year, and I remember the joy an pride of your parents when they brought you to Wales as a baby. They waited a long time for you and were thrilled and delighted to have you. I was the little bridesmaid in the background of the picture of Anne on her wedding day. Anne was all the things you mentioned and also a talented dressmaker, she made my beautiful bridesmaid outfit. She also made me a rag-doll (Sally-Ann!) with lots of different outfits including a mini bridesmaid dress. I treasured her and still have her. Anne and John were 14 years older than me, so at family gatherings they would whisk me off in the car to the beach and we would go looking for fossils ! I also stayed in Arbuthnott with them for a week, helping Anne with her vegetable patch, walking on the beach with the dogs and rifling through John's LP collection which he bravely let me play ! I will always remember Anne's infectious giggle. She is at peace now, forever reunited with her soulmate, your Dad and her own Mum & Dad whom she loved dearly. My brother Paul lives in Tauranga, so I hope we can all meet one day when I visit and share more memories of your Mum and Dad together. Sending you lots of love from your family in Wales xxx

What can we say that not been said?.....the curls, the unique laugh (more of a titter really), the camping (with the kids at Mt. Kidd especially...We walked around the campsites and saw the teepees the three children had built many years ago), the Xmas celebration that lasted until after New Years, the patience with everyone, always the best hostess, and.....and....and.....we will miss you!!!..... Anne, lots more paths to be travelled and hikes to be taken. Love you always, Blaine and Susan

Dear Anne, I’ll probably never have another friend with whom I will flat out laugh for hours the way I did with you. You had such a unique world view - probably the Welsh in you - and more often than not it involved cracking up everyone around you. We had so much fun together. Dinner parties, appie parties, rumoli nights, winery brunches, movie nights and on and on. There was a particularly perfect summer day when you, Sue Hill, John and I took a road trip to southern BC and whenever I think of it, it’s the laughter that comes to mind. You were such a thoughtful, kind and generous friend to so many and you extended that generosity to the community … cuddling babies indeed. It was completely unfair that both you and your beloved John succumbed to such uncompromisingly brutal diseases. I miss you, I love you. Tracey

A very fortunate chance encounter ( at a geophysical workshop) between two (fairly new to Canada) Welsh gals blossomed into a wonderful family friendship, the memories of which Tim & I will treasure forever. Our Christmas celebrations, beach vacations & camping trips were brilliant! Anne kindness and enthusiasm for adventure was infectious.......her world view and sense of humour were always enlightening & entertaining! A truly unique lady that generously spread so much joy and happiness. I just miss her dearly, and will always be thankful for so many years of delightful endearment. Love always, Carole & Tim xoxo

Miss Annie, as you let me call you since you called me Miss Chardonnay, I miss you. You always brightened a day I spent walking in the woods with you, sharing a glass of wine or serving us the best Curry! You had the patience of a Saint, trying to teach David & me your games - we were good for a laugh. Say hi to John, rest in peace and look upon us with your infectious smile. We love, love, love you alway, Sue and David

What’s occurring? A line from a Welsh comedy with which Anne and i would often open our conversations. What’s occurring now is a sad farewell to my wonderful friend, Anne, with whom i went to school in Cardiff, Wales. Anne’s irrepressible spirit, positive ‘can do’ attitude, generosity of spirit in every aspect of her life, her sense of humour and boundless energy ….a truly unique woman who I was so blessed to have known and shared life’s journey with for nearly 60 years. Her beautiful curls, beaming smile and unique laughter i will never forget. Love you always, my little Welsh friend,🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
