To all the family, I will always remember Mick as a very succesful man. They still talk about him in Klapmuts, in Cape Town. Fond regards to all. From Joshua, currently stationed in Saudi Arabia.
Sending love and strength the June, Katherine, Colleen, Mandy, Mark and their families on the loss of your beloved husband and Dad. I have so many happy memories of time spent with you at Akarana farm. Always so many of us children at Christmas celebrations. Ouma trying to teach our Mom's to bake her legendary cheese scones, but no one ever made them like Ouma. Swimming as fast as we could across the farm dam so the sharks and crocodiles wouldn't get us! Going on outrides with you accomplished riders and always fearful the horse was going to bolt into the distance with me hanging in for dear life. I remember him as generous, fun, hard working, determined and kind. He was devoted to his family and quietly helped so many others too. Thinking of you at this difficult time and remembering Mick with love ♥️
Dad I could never have asked for a better father than you. You always put someone else's needs before your own. Very reluctant to ask for help instead asking others how you could help them. You did so much for the community.
We will treasure our memories of Mick, over 50 years of them. We will miss his positive presence, but he’ll remain with us. Our love to his extended family.
Such a loss, and such an honour to have known Mick most of my life. A true gentleman with an extremely strong work ethic that we all looked up to. Always very helpful and willing to do what was necessary. First memories were probably of being taught to ski by Mick on the dam in Klapmuts, and even remember the special business “cash” deal Mick did for us on concrete blocks for our first house in Klapmuts. Thinking of you all, the Saunders family, June, Katherine, Mark, Colleen and Mandy. Cherish the good memories.
The volunteers at Highfield Garden Reserve are saddened to hear of the death of Mike. For several years, Mike generously donated haybails for winter feed for the donkeys. He also delivered the hay free of charge which was greatly appreciated. We would like to extend our sincere condolences to all his family. On befalf of the volunteers, Peter Caccia-Birch and John Montgomerie.
Sending our thoughts & love to you & your family June.
