Remembering dear Auntie Pat with love and memories of a very beautiful sophisticated woman who travelled the world and had myriad stories to tell of her life and work. Always interested in what the family were doing and keeping us all informed of their activities of those around the world. Im glad that we were able to visit you every time I came to Auckland. Thank you Ruth for your loving care of Pat and for being so available to tell me how she was when we were in "Covid" mode. A loving soul gone now to be with all her brothers and sisters and of course her dear Bill.
This photo of Auntie Patty on her wedding day Aug 20, 1955 with her bridesmaid Renee Robinson and the 7 year old me as her flower girl is truly a treasure. Patty was unknowingly my role model of the smart sophisticated working woman who had traveled the world and was living in the big city of Toronto in a high rise apartment. It was a huge adventure for our family from the small town of Georgetown to visit she & Bill during their years there, often joined by Aunt Connie & Jack. When I traveled to NZ many years later to visit Patty & the 'rellies' they were always full of joy & laughter. She continued to write wonderful letters bringing us up to date on all the NZ family news through the years. We all miss her.
Sorry we can't be with you all to celebrate Auntie Pat's life and sorry Auntie Pat that Covid stopped us from visiting you the past few years. What a wonderful life it was. Aunty Pat was always so interesting to visit having travelled the world and lived in Canada, she was a woman ahead of her times. And she was always interested in what was going on in our lives and had a sharp creative mind and wit. While we celebrate her life it is also a time to reflect on the lives of her siblings. On that note we will be visiting Owen's war grave in Italy (on the 17th) and we will take some time to remember the whole Donaldson clan. Kia kaha and love to all Paul, Carolyn, Caitlin and James
Was so lucky to meet our Aunties in 2017. Time spent together we will always remember. Sending all our love from Canada. Brett, Alexandra, Cash and Reese Reynolds. XOXO
