Although I could not be there today to farewell you , I consider myself fortunate to have shared "big" moments with you (and Clifford) Always a smile and a kind greeting and I was privileged to be invited to share your 90th. Enjoyed your arts and crafts and still use some of your cards . My sympathies to Lesley and your families but June had a "life well lived" and a joy that we all envied . Diane Jones
Goodbye my dear June. I will miss your visits greatly.
Somehow Mrs West managed to keep up with us all; with cards and letters sent around the world she must have been favourite customer of the New Zealand postal service! Some of my earliest memories are roasting chestnuts with Mr and Mrs West in their house in Chandlers Ford (UK). She kept in touch of course, as my family has grown so did Mrs West's Birthday card list. We've been privileged to share in her life, and we're grateful for the love and interest and kindness that she has shared with us; from those she had known for decades to those who have only recently arrived. With fond memories and much love, Ian, Leika, Arenya and Taeshan xxx
I first got to know you in 1969, fresh from Holland, when Lesley and I became friends. I so remember going round to 4, Oakwood Avenue, where you and Mr West always made me very welcome and a glowing coal fire was waiting on cold winters’ evenings. You were always friendly and warm hearted and we missed you when you moved to New Zealand. But you kept everyone close to your heart with your lovely letters and homemade cards, not only for me, but also for Colin and our (now grown up)children. You’ve always been genuinely interested, putting others at the centre of your thinking. It was so very special when Colin and I met up with you just before your birthday at the end of 2019. We were finally able to catch up face to face, spend time in your lovely house together and you showed us round your favourite places. You even allowed Colin to drive your car! We had such a good time, and such a good laugh, together! Special moments we will always treasure. With love from all of us, Nom and Colin XX 6 November 2022
Thank you Mrs West for always remembering me and my brother and sister every year even though we live on the other side of the world in the UK. Your thoughtful birthday cards were something we always looked forward to and we felt so honoured to receive them! Sending lots of love to Lesley, Jock and all of your family, you will be so missed. Hilary xxxx
To a very dear friend. Although there are many miles between us, you are always close in our thoughts. We shared some lovely chats and giggles which I will cherish forever. It was an absolute pleasure to know you June. Thank you for our special friendship. With love. Suzanne, Ross and family
Remembering Auntie June (and Uncle Clifford of course!)with much love and fond memories of our earlier years. Birthdays and Christmases never forgotten and family get togethers always enjoyed. We will miss our annual letters and Christmas cards which were always the first to arrive. Often in our thoughts even though so far away. We loved them both and now they are together again. Sleep well, Cynthia & Les Xxx
Bye Aunty, Phred will be pleased to see you. Hugs to you both and thanks for the 'old days'
June was very special to all of us in the Wednesday craft group. Her work was beautiful, and we enjoyed looking at photos of Eliza on her phone. We have lost a much loved friend who inspired us all. We wish there were visiting hours in heaven. Heather, Vivienne, Cathy, Mary
We have enjoyed our talks from farming to art. I’m sure You and Clifford are together chatting about the years past. Thanks for the tomatoes over the fence and rest easy now. Our thoughts are with Lesley and Jock and families- You owe me a cuppa! Love Meryn n Stuart.
