Jill Hooper

13 September 194815 November 2022

It is with great sadness that Jill, our generous and unapologetic matriarch has passed peacefully at home on Tuesday 15th November 2022.  Jill’s wicked sense of humour and illuminating vibrancy that has rippled through the South Taranaki community, will be dearly missed by those lucky enough to have been in her presence.

Jill's husband and soulmate Irwin; brother, Graeme; children, Michelle, Aaron and Judy; grandchildren, Jade, Cory, Jordan, Mckensie and Riley, great-granddaughter; Maia, will cherish the memories and blueprint of how to live a wonderful life, created by Jill.

Our Queen Jill, who had a personality larger and louder than life itself, wanted everyone to celebrate her life whilst she parties with a bottle of red wine in one hand and a ciggie in the other above us. Before passing, Jill requested for everyone to wear their most colourful clothing and bright dresses to her funeral – a true reflection of her character and vivacious spirit. We invite you to bring your smiles and dancing shoes as we honour Jill’s life at the TSB Hub Camberwell Road Hawera, on Sunday 20th November 2022, commencing at 11am.

DUE TO TECHNICAL DIFFICULTYS THE LIVE-STREAM CONNECTION WAS INTERUPTED, A RECORDING OF THE SERVICE WILL BE UPLOADED SHORTLY. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PAITENCE

My darling Jilly, We have been through some tough times together, haven't we? You have been a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on and an amazingly loyal and beautiful friend. You have watched my darling daughter grow up, and me too! What would I have done without you in my darkest days? Your friendship and beautiful heart is something I will never forget. That day you asked me to bring my clippers... Oh how I cried knowing that I was removing your glorious head of hair that was always immaculate. You chain smoked, I cried, but off it came. And still, you looked beautiful. Together we chose your "new" hair. Your courage and strength, I was in awe of you. On Wednesday we did our last "plucked chook" together, it was an honour to do this for you. Jilly, I will miss you so very much, and you will always, always have a very special place in my heart. Forever.

Jill, how do we say a final goodbye to someone like you? A bright light has gone out. We will all miss you very, very much. Remembering the fun we had together over the years, you laughing and always seeing the best in everything even when things and people put some sort of stumbling block in the way ---- you always found a simple solution and things always turned out right in the end. You have left a lovely legacy, your family will keep the traditions and will always remember what is important in their lives. We will keep a check on your Irwin and your extended loved ones to help make things a little easier now that you are not here. Heaven will be good to you. We know you have helped a lot of people throughout your life. Save a fluffy cloud for all of us to sit and chat about times gone by and the things we all enjoyed together. The world is no longer the same now you have left us but we will keep the faith and will hear your great funny laughter from where ever you are. Love you always and miss you already. We send our love and will be with you and your family tomorrow. Elaine and Llew.

Jilly, what a wonderful life you have led touching so many lives from many walks of life. Your humour, kindness, artist talents, so many young people have been touched by you through ballet and will always remember their journey with you. Our families have been friends for all our lives. You will be sadly missed by those around you and afar. The family in Australia send their love your family and we are sad we cannot be there today but will be there in spirit via the live stream. Dearest Jilly, Thank you for being who you are, such a loyal loving friend over the past 40 years, I will miss you so much. We have shared the highs and lows of life together. Laughed and cried together, then had another wine together!! We have sung, acted and played the fool together. Ran a Tour Company together which brought people together. There have been so many "togethers" in our lives. You always burst into a room, full of life and laughter! Your whisper was always "loud". Your hugs the best!! Your kindness and caring will be missed not just by me but by so many others. Goodbye my friend. Love you Viv XXXX

To Irwin and family. We join with you all to celebrate the life of Jill. She was always a joy to be with at any Hooper family occasion. She brought a sense of fun and life with her at all times. As Hooper decendants we share a unique bond. Your Grandfather Herbert and my mother Eleanor (Girlie) were brother and sister. Thus we feel for you all at this time. Please accept our love and support. Rich and Marg
