Kia ora Desirae, Bronwyn, Eleanor, Gary, Phillip and all the extended family. I was sad to hear you’ve lost your dear Dad, father in law, grandfather and great grandfather. For the benefit of the grand and great grandchildren Bev and Ross Wells were good friends of my parents Vyv and Keith Hunt. Our families grew up together. A lovely greeting from Ross was a highlight of my recent visits to Rotorua. He had an ear to ear smile and always gave me a very warm welcome. From time to time Ross would mention the occasion when I deliberately turned the ski boat the wrong way leaving Ross with a slack rope and losing speed but knowing that the rope would very soon snap tight nearly ripping his arms out of their sockets. Ross was a strong and competent water skier with a good sense of humour. I think he managed to hang on or maybe he didn’t. Whatever happened he laughed it off and didn’t seem to hold it against me. This incident obviously stuck in his mind however and he would bring it up decades later. Vyv and Keith left Rotorua along with Shirleen and myself in the early seventies (that’s half a century ago!!!). Strong connections have remained through family and friends. My mother made her final journey back to Rotorua in July 2019. I remember Ross and Grant paying their respects at Vyv’s grave side at Kauae Cemetery. It was a poignant moment then and in retrospect even more so. Both Ross and Grant were good men and good family friends. I regret being unable to join you on Saturday but want to pass on my warm greetings and sincere condolences. Nga mihi nui Peter Hunt

Ross and Bev were so helpful when we first moved to Rotorua nearly 70 years ago. As next door neighbours they helped to make Rotorua our home.Ross,a lovely guy who enriched our lives through knowing him.

Mr Wells , you were always so lovely, your kind heart and big smile will stay in my thoughts of you always. May you have as many date scones with lashings of butter as often as you like. As an emplyee of yours from Sheafs pharmacy, it was a pleasure working for you as you always made this such a happy place to be at. Rest easy , wonderful man.
