Today was a lovely and memorial celebration of Pete's life and we are grateful to have been able to join you all online from Brisbane this morning. It was clear from the eulogies of family and friends what a talented and thoughtful person he was. That's how we remember him too. He enjoyed life, and we enjoyed being part of it. Pete was a true gentleman whom we are very fortunate to have known. Love to Marg, Nicki, Rachel and Brian and all those who loved him to.
We have just shared your truely fitting tribute service for Pete. It revealed a one of a kind brother, friend, colleague, mentor, special husband to Marg, proud and loving father to Rachel, Brian and Nicki, embracing father in law to Bevan and Maria and super proud Grandpa to Charlie and Mateo. Our sincere condolences and love to all. Garry and Maureen
Well Pete I imagine it would give you a laugh, I turned up a week early for your Funeral. Sad I didn't get to see you one last time - I didn't realise the progression. Am in Isolation watching today. Such a pleasure over the many years, many times to be a link in your lovely family. Caring for Moose, Molly and your beautiful Home. Grateful to have met you and your family. Amazing well lived remarkable life, Man of great Mana. 1 in a million...... See you on the other side. Dearest Marg I will see you soon xo
Deepest sympathies. Will watch service on line. My thoughts are with you at this sad time.
Our family has been fortunate to have spent plenty of time with the Atkinson Family, with Pete being a vibrant part of that. Lots of wonderful memories, many that have left me crying with laughter! An intelligent, curious man, witty conversationalist, and all-round nice person. Very generous with his well-tended swimming pool, we enjoyed swimming there many times last summer after our return to NZ, and always enjoyed sitting down for a chat with Pete and Marg while the kids splashed about. Thanks for the memories, Pete, they'll live on for many decades yet.
The world has lost one of life’s great gentleman. Pete and I spend a few years studying civil engineering together at Canterbury and a year sharing a house in Christchurch. We also spent three months working in the Snowy Mountains helping the Australians build a working hydro-electric scheme. Always a pleasure to be around, Pete added so much to my life and I will always have warm memories of our time together. The world is a poorer place for his passing. Ross Gunthorp Sydney
So devastated to hear of Peter's passing. A man of great intellect and warmth, Peter was always an absolute gentleman. My heart goes out to Margaret and family.
