I just found out that Lenny SEARS, ("Onions") - I knew him as a Leading Weapons Mechanic - passed away He was on "Blackpool" in 1970/71 and he flew to England on our flight to the UK to pick and bring home HMNZS "Canterbury" 1971/72 - the ranks of the original crew are thinning He was always a jovial bloke and always happy go lucky fella - It was only weeks ago that he went into care, I rang and spoke to him I last saw him on a DVD that was made of the last trip of "Canterbury from Lyttleton to Auckland and had not changed a bit Rest in peace Old Ship mate - my thoughts are with you and your family - Hoppy

Great man Len, had my late father's navy medals framed for me and I'd gotten a surprise when when there was one added to collection ,he had organized. Appreciated more than words can say.My condolences to Colleen,Kim,Alison,Robert and family

So many memories of Len .... the way he opened the door when I visited saying "hello little Morris girl". His collections of things like the giant pool table and swamp kauri. His wonderful dance moves, the best lead I've ever danced with. To me he was strong and steady always there for his family. A special bloke now at rest.
