Dear Fleur Marie, Dan & Michelle, Jonathan & Zoe, Naomi & Ant and all your families. I was thinking about you on Christmas Day and wondering how Alf was and hoping you were having a lovely Christmas Day together. I didn’t call as I didn’t want to disturb your family time. Little did I know that your darling Alf, father and grandfather left us all that day. You all have continued to be on my mind and I thought tonight that I would text to see how things were. Thank you for ringing me back Fleur and letting us know. We are so sorry to have missed being with you all as you have all said goodbye yesterday. We have many wonderful memories of spending time with you all over the nearly 39 years we have known you - our first Christmas as a married couple with Alf and the children when Marie was in the UK when we were in Oamaru, visits in Te Awamutu, Taumarunui, Miramar, Auckland, Napier and back in Auckland - Campbell’s Bay and Avondale. Naomi and Ants wedding. Neil’s surprise 63 birthday in Te Atatu Peninsula. We have shared many prayers, tears, conversations, laughter and love. I feel very privileged to have been able to tell Alf that we loved him and thank him for all he has been in our lives be it on the phone. I knew then that we wouldn’t see each other again in this life and I said we would see him later. Lots of love, Alaine, Neil, Alexander, Frances and James. Fleur we will be in touch soon.
